Terms of Use

Last updated: October 24, 2026

Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE].

These terms are an agreement between you and Punch LLC, a [STATE] limited liability company ("Debut", "we", "us"), about the Debut app for iPhone and the website heydebut.com. Please read them with our Privacy Policy and Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.

Please read "Disputes" below. It says that you and we will resolve disputes by binding individual arbitration, not in court and not in a class action, unless you opt out within 30 days of first agreeing to these terms.

How you agree to these terms

  • In the app: setup starts with a screen called Before you start. It has a switch that says you're 18 or older and agree to these terms, beside links to them and to both privacy policies. You agree when you turn the switch on and tap Agree and continue. If you set up Debut before that screen existed, the app shows it to you once before you go on. Debut saves your agreement on your iPhone with the version of these terms and the time.
  • On this website: you agree when you tap the button that sends your email address for your letter, or that sends your beta application, under a line that says tapping it means you agree to these terms.
  • If you don't agree, don't use Debut.

If you got the app from Apple's App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your license to use it. These terms add to it, and if the two conflict about that license, Apple's agreement controls. The "Apple" section below has terms Apple asks for.

Who can use Debut

  • Debut is for people 18 and older. You also have to be old enough to make a binding contract where you live.
  • The website's email list and the beta are for adults 18 and older, and the beta is for people who live in the US.
  • Give your real birthday. Debut's age rules depend on it. If your birthday shows you're under 18, setup stops.
  • Debut isn't for children. If we learn that someone under 18 is using Debut, we'll ask them to stop and delete anything we hold about them.

Debut isn't medical advice

Debut offers general fitness and nutrition information and coaching. It isn't medical care or a medical device, and it doesn't diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.

  • See your doctor first. Check with a doctor before you start a new exercise or eating plan, especially if you have a health condition or an injury, take medication (including GLP-1 medications), or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Debut never tells you to start, stop or change a medication.
  • Eating disorders. Debut isn't designed for people who have or have had an eating disorder. If that's you, talk with a clinician before you use its calorie or weight features. You can hide them in Profile › What Debut shows.
  • Stop if something's wrong. Stop exercising and get help if you feel pain, dizziness, chest pain or shortness of breath. In an emergency, call 911.
  • Numbers are estimates. Calorie budgets, protein targets, meal estimates and the numbers from Apple Health are estimates, and they can be wrong.
  • You take on the risks. Exercise and changes to how you eat carry risks, including injury and, rarely, serious harm. You decide what you do. As far as the law allows, you take on those risks when you follow a Debut plan or act on anything Debut or future you says.

Future you is AI

  • Future you is an AI, not a person. Its images, clips, voice and words are made by AI, and Debut labels them as AI, in the app and in the videos you share.
  • Debut reminds you. Future you says it's an AI at the start of every conversation, and Debut reminds you again at least every 3 hours while a conversation goes on.
  • Companion chatbots like future you may not be suitable for some minors.
  • It can't help in an emergency. Future you isn't a friend, therapist or clinician. If you're thinking about suicide or hurting yourself, or eating feels out of control, call or text 988 in the US now, or call 911 if you're in danger. The next section explains what future you does then.
  • Its images and clips are previews of the life you're working toward. They aren't predictions, they aren't a promise of any result, and they don't show how you will look.
  • AI makes mistakes. What future you says, and the estimates Debut's AI makes, can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and can sound more sure than they are. Nobody at Debut reads future you's replies before you see them. Don't rely on them for medical, legal or financial decisions, and check anything important with a professional. You're responsible for what you do with them.
  • Tell us if something future you makes is wrong or inappropriate, at hello@heydebut.com.

How future you handles a crisis

California and New York ask AI companions to have a plan for when someone might be in danger, and to publish it. This is Debut's.

  • What Debut watches for. Every message you send future you, typed or spoken, is checked on your iPhone before it goes anywhere, for words that can mean thoughts of suicide or self-harm or an eating-disorder emergency. A message that matches isn't sent to Debut's server or to any AI: your iPhone answers it. Messages that are sent are checked again on Debut's server, for the same words and for softer signs that you're struggling with food, your body or your mood, and the AI model that writes future you's replies is told to flag any message where you might be in danger.
  • What happens then. Future you stops answering as usual. It says it's an AI, not a person, and points you to real help: in the US, call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline; outside the US, findahelpline.com lists free lines near you; talk with your doctor if it's about food or eating; and call 911 if you're in danger. Debut doesn't contact anyone for you, and Debut's server doesn't keep what you said.
  • What future you is told. Its AI model is told never to say it's a person or a professional, never to write anything sexual or romantic, never to suggest fasting, skipping meals or extreme dieting, never to give medical advice and never to talk about weight or bodies. Debut drops any reply sentence that claims to be a person or a professional, or that talks about weight or bodies.
  • How it's tested and counted. Debut's automated tests check the word lists against crisis phrases and everyday ones ("this workout is killing me" isn't a crisis). Debut's server keeps a daily count of how often it shows the crisis or support message, with nothing about who saw it, to improve the checks and for the yearly report California asks for.
  • Questions about this plan: hello@heydebut.com.

Your photos, voice and other content

  • What's yours stays yours. You keep your rights in what you add to Debut (your photos, your voice recording, your logs and your words) and in what Debut makes for you, as far as the law gives anyone rights in content made by AI.
  • Our permission to use it is limited to providing the features you turn on: keeping it on your iPhone, sending it to the service providers our Privacy Policy names, and making future you's images, clips, voice and words from it. It ends when you delete the content, except for copies those providers keep for the time the Privacy Policy gives, such as Anthropic's 30 days.
  • Only you. Use only photos of yourself and only your own voice. Don't use Debut to make images, clips or voices of anyone else, including children and public figures.
  • Sharing. You can share what Debut makes for you for personal, non-commercial purposes. Keep its AI label, and don't present it as a real photo, video or recording, use it to deceive, impersonate or harass anyone, or use it in advertising.

Using Debut responsibly

Don't:

  • add photos or a recording of anyone but yourself, or make images, clips or a voice of anyone else;
  • use Debut to impersonate anyone, or to make content that's sexual, violent, hateful or harassing;
  • use Debut for anything unlawful, harmful or abusive;
  • copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the app, except as the law allows;
  • get around Debut's limits, such as the call allowance or Debut Premium, or interfere with its servers or security;
  • use automated tools to access the app, its servers or this website, to scrape them, or to build another AI product from them.

If you break these terms, we can limit or suspend features, block your access to Debut's server or end your beta access.

If someone misused your likeness

If you think someone used Debut to make images, clips or a voice of you without your permission, email legal@heydebut.com with:

  • your name and how to reach you;
  • what the content shows and where you saw it, with a link or a copy;
  • why you think it was made with Debut;
  • a statement that it shows you and that you didn't agree to it.

We'll reply within 10 business days and tell you what we found. Debut keeps what it makes only on the iPhone of the person who made it, so we can't delete copies on someone's phone or on another site. When we can tell who made it, as we can for beta testers, we'll end their access to Debut's server. When we can confirm it was made with Debut, we'll give you a written statement that it's made by AI, which you can send to the site where it appears to ask for it to come down. We also answer valid requests from law enforcement.

Copyright. If you think something in the app or on this website infringes your copyright, send a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to our designated agent: [DMCA AGENT], Punch LLC, [ADDRESS]; legal@heydebut.com; [PHONE]. The notice must include your physical or electronic signature; the work you think is infringed; the material you think infringes it and where it is; your address, phone number and email address; a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't allowed by the owner, its agent or the law; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you're the owner or allowed to act for the owner. We end the access of anyone who repeatedly infringes.

Debut Premium

Debut is free to use, with optional Debut Premium subscriptions that add more of future you. The paywall shows what Debut Premium adds, and what stays free, before you buy.

  • Plans: Debut Premium Monthly, $19.99 a month, and Debut Premium Yearly, $99.99 a year. These are US prices; the App Store shows your price, in your currency, before you buy.
  • What the paywall says. Beside its button, the paywall shows the terms of the plan you pick. For the monthly plan with a free trial: "7 days free, then $19.99 per month. Your subscription renews automatically every month until you cancel. Cancel anytime in Settings › your name › Subscriptions at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged." Without a trial: "$19.99 per month. Your subscription renews automatically every month until you cancel. Cancel anytime in Settings › your name › Subscriptions at least 24 hours before it renews to avoid being charged for the next month." The yearly plan's terms are the same, with $99.99 and "year". The button says Start free trial, or Subscribe when there's no trial.
  • Free trial: if your Apple ID is eligible, each plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it becomes the plan you chose, and you're charged that plan's price. Debut reminds you 26 to 48 hours before the trial ends, unless you've turned its notifications off in Settings; if you haven't answered whether Debut can send notifications, the reminder arrives quietly, in Notification Center.
  • Payment: charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends.
  • Automatic renewal: your subscription renews automatically, for the same length of time and at the same price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • Canceling and managing: on your iPhone, go to Settings › your name › Subscriptions, or in Debut, to Profile › Debut Premium › Manage subscription. Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription. When you cancel, Debut Premium stays on until the end of the period you paid for, or of the trial.
  • Unused trial: any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
  • Price changes: Apple tells you before a new price applies, and asks for your agreement when the law or Apple's rules require it.
  • Refunds: Apple handles billing and refunds for App Store purchases. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds for App Store purchases ourselves.
  • When Debut Premium ends, what was made for you stays on your iPhone, and nothing new is made.
  • Offer codes: redeem them in Profile › Debut Premium › Redeem a code. Each code's terms are shown with it.
  • What's free can change. If we move something that's free into Debut Premium, we'll tell you in the app at least 30 days before.

The Debut beta

Places in the beta are limited, and applying doesn't mean you'll get one. Beta builds come through Apple's TestFlight, under Apple's terms, and they can have bugs or change at any time. Testers get free access during the beta and, at launch, a free year of Debut Premium Yearly through an offer code. After that year, it renews at the regular price, $99.99 a year, unless you cancel in Settings › your name › Subscriptions at least 24 hours before the year ends. Neither is tied to ratings or reviews. If you post about Debut, say that you got free access to the beta.

This website

  • The letter at heydebut.com/letter is written by Debut's AI (Claude, by Anthropic) from your answers, or is Debut's built-in letter when the AI isn't available, and each one is labeled. It's about your plan and your own reasons. It isn't a prediction or a promise of any result.
  • The 12-week starter plan is general information for healthy adults, and it isn't tailored to you. If you have a health condition or an injury, check with a doctor before you start, and stop any move that hurts.
  • The email list is optional. It starts only after you confirm your address, and every email lets you unsubscribe.

Our app and content

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Debut app on Apple devices you own or control, as the App Store's Usage Rules allow, while you follow these terms. Debut's name and logo, the app, this website and their content belong to Punch LLC. If you send us ideas or feedback, we can use them without owing you anything.

Other services

Apple Health, the App Store, TestFlight and Apple's on-device model are Apple's services, under Apple's terms. Debut's AI text comes from Anthropic's Claude or, on your iPhone, from Apple's on-device model. Debut's food data includes data from Open Food Facts, available under the Open Database License, and from the USDA's FoodData Central. When you use Debut, you also have to follow the terms of the other services you use it with, such as your wireless carrier's. We aren't responsible for other companies' services.

Disclaimers

Debut is provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that Debut will always be available or free of errors, or that its AI content, estimates or plans will be accurate or right for you. These disclaimers apply as far as the law where you live allows. If you live in New Jersey, they don't apply to claims for personal injury or property damage caused by our negligence, or to claims under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act; the rest of this section applies to you.

Limits on liability

As far as the law allows, Punch LLC isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from Debut. Our total liability for any claim about Debut is limited to the greater of what you paid for Debut Premium in the 12 months before the claim and US$50. These limits don't apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, to fraud, or to anything else the law where you live doesn't let us limit. If you live in New Jersey, they don't apply to claims for personal injury or property damage caused by our negligence, or to claims under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act; the rest of this section applies to you.

Ending your use

You can stop using Debut anytime: delete your data in Profile › Privacy & data, delete the app, and cancel Debut Premium through Apple. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms. We can change Debut, or stop offering it or parts of it, and we'll tell you in the app at least 30 days ahead, unless we have to act sooner for safety, security or the law.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we'll post the new version here and update the dates at the top. If a change affects your rights or what you agree to, we'll ask you to agree to it in the app before it applies to you; until you do, the version you last agreed to applies, except for changes the law requires or that only add to your rights. A change never applies to a dispute you've already told us about. If you don't agree to a change, stop using Debut and cancel Debut Premium.

Disputes

Please read this section. It includes an agreement to arbitrate and a waiver of class actions.

Talk to us first. Before either of us starts an arbitration or a small claims case, we'll try to resolve the dispute informally for 60 days. To start, send a notice to legal@heydebut.com or to Punch LLC, [ADDRESS], with your name, the email address or phone number you use with Debut (if any), what the dispute is about and what you want, signed by you. If we start it, we'll use the contact details you've given us. Within those 60 days, either of us can ask for a call or video meeting, which you'll join personally; your lawyer can join too. Deadlines for bringing a claim are paused while this step runs. A notice that doesn't follow this paragraph doesn't start the 60 days, and a court can pause an arbitration until this step is done.

Arbitration. If we don't resolve it, you and Punch LLC agree to resolve any dispute, claim or controversy between us that arises out of or relates to Debut, the app, this website, these terms or how we handle your information, including claims under privacy, biometric, consumer protection and automatic renewal laws, by binding arbitration before one arbitrator, individually and not in court. In arbitration there's no judge or jury, and a court's review of the arbitrator's decision is limited. The arbitrator decides whether a claim must be arbitrated, except for the questions this section leaves to a court. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. National Arbitration and Mediation (NAM) runs the arbitration under its Comprehensive Dispute Resolution Rules and Procedures, and its Mass Filing Supplemental Dispute Resolution Rules and Procedures where they apply, as in effect when the arbitration starts, except as this section changes them. The arbitrator can award any individual relief a court could under the same law, but only to the person who brought the claim. Hearings are by video or phone or, if in person, in the county where you live. A claim for $10,000 or less is decided on written submissions unless you or the arbitrator asks for a hearing.

Costs. We'll pay all filing, administration and arbitrator fees for an arbitration you start, unless the arbitrator finds your claim frivolous or brought for an improper purpose. Each of us pays our own lawyers unless the law or the arbitrator awards fees.

What isn't arbitrated. (a) Either of us can bring an individual claim in small claims court in the county where you live, if it qualifies and stays there. (b) Either of us can go to court to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property. (c) Where the law of your state doesn't allow you to waive it, a claim for public injunctive relief (an order whose main purpose is to stop unlawful acts that harm the general public) is decided by a court, after any arbitration of individual claims, and the court case waits until that arbitration ends. (d) A court, not an arbitrator, decides whether "No class actions" or "Mass filings" can be enforced, and whether a claim falls under (a) to (c).

No class actions. You and we can bring claims against each other only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, consolidated or representative proceeding. The arbitrator can't combine more than one person's claims or award relief to anyone but the person who brought the claim. If a court decides this paragraph can't be enforced for a particular claim or remedy, that claim or remedy, and only that one, goes to court, which waits until any individual arbitration ends, and the rest of this section still applies.

Mass filings. If 25 or more people bring similar claims against us, or we bring similar claims against 25 or more people, with the same or coordinated lawyers, the claims go forward in stages. First, 10 cases (5 chosen by each side) are filed and decided by different arbitrators while the rest wait. Then the parties mediate the remaining claims for 60 days with a mediator NAM appoints, at our cost. If they don't settle, the rest are filed in batches of up to 100, each batch within 30 days after the arbitrators for the previous batch are appointed, until all are filed. Deadlines for bringing a claim are paused for claims waiting their turn. A court can enforce this paragraph, including by ordering filings to follow it.

Opting out. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first agreeing to these terms, by emailing legal@heydebut.com with your name, the email address or phone number you use with Debut (if any), and a clear statement that you're opting out. Opting out doesn't change anything else in these terms.

Changes to this section. A change never applies to a dispute you've already told us about, and you can reject a change by emailing legal@heydebut.com within 30 days of it. The last version you agreed to then applies.

Governing law and courts. Apart from this section, which the Federal Arbitration Act governs, these terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE] and US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing in this takes away protection that the consumer laws of the state where you live give you. A dispute that isn't arbitrated or in small claims court goes to the state or federal courts in [STATE], unless a law of the state where you live gives you the right to bring it in your own state's courts, and you and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction. If you live outside the US, the laws of your country can also apply.

Survival and severability. This section survives after you stop using Debut. If a court finds any other part of it unenforceable, the rest still applies.

Apple

These terms are between you and Punch LLC, not Apple. In addition:

  • Punch LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content, for its maintenance and support, and for any warranty that isn't effectively disclaimed. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
  • If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund the app's purchase price, if any. As far as the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
  • Punch LLC, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or anyone else about the app or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
  • If anyone claims that the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, Punch LLC, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging the claim.
  • You confirm that you're not in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated by the US government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you're not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • When you use the app, you must follow any third-party terms that apply, such as your wireless data service's.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and once you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce them against you.
  • Questions, complaints or claims about the app go to Punch LLC, [ADDRESS]; [PHONE]; hello@heydebut.com.

General

These terms and the policies they link to are the whole agreement between you and us about Debut. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a part right away, we can still enforce it later. You can't transfer these terms; we can transfer them to a company that takes over Debut, which then has our obligations to you. We can send you notices in the app or by email, and you can send us notices at legal@heydebut.com. Sections that by their nature should last, including Your photos, voice and other content, Disclaimers, Limits on liability, Disputes and General, keep applying after your use ends.
